I have decided to write a journal as a way to give me an opportunity to write everyday.  There are many times that I write in my head, now this gives me an opportunity to actually do it.  I had a friend who passed on who told me I should write about nature and the outdoors, so that is what the topic of most of my writing will be. I hope anyone who reads it will find something in the writing to help them feel closer to the world outside of my windows and help them experience a place they have not been or known before.  One of my heroins is Rachel Carson, author of Silent Spring. She helped me to understand the damaging effect of mankind on the planet as well as help me to understand my connection to the planet and my place in it.  Her words are ones to live by.  Here is one of my favorites: "Those who comtemplate the beauty of the earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts."
